Anyway… whatchya got for meeee?
KyleXY – I disagree with the Marlins needing to adjust. Most of their players are veterans, including Guillen. I think they’ll make an early impact. And the Brewers position would depend on Braun’s suspension. If it’s overruled, I definetely agree that they would be in third rather than fourth. And the Cardinals lost too much this offseason to go all the way, but they may go to the LCS, although I don’t think they’re better than the Giants will be. Thanks for the response.

K-Dawg – Normally you would be correct, however this offseason a rule was put in place where the top seed would face the bottom seed regardless if they’re in the same division. That rule could be taken away though… so we’ll see.

the marlins are going to need a few years to adjust. they will be in third or fourth. you got the cardinals right except you should of put the brewers where the cubs are. the giants will in fact lose to the cardinals and the cardinals will beat the diamondbacks in the NLCS. the cardinals will go on to beat the new york yankees in 6 games in the world series!!!

Your playoffs are not accurate since two teams from the same division cannot play each other in the Division Series. You have the Angels and Rangers facing each other in the ALDS. Same for the NL with the Marlins and Phillies. It should be Angels vs Tigers in the ALCS and Phillies vs Cardinals in the NLCS.

I didn’t hear that they might not have that rule. Nevermind then…

1st of all i like you decision for joe mauer. and i dont think teams from the same division cant be in the ds. heres mine.

	AL East
1. Rays
2. Red Sox
3. Yankees
4. Blue Jays
5. Orioles

No reason to think the Rays won’t come back and pull another rabbit out of their hats. Red Sox have a lot of talent, they just need to stay healthy and focused. Yankees are gettng old, Granderson and Cano are the only people keeping this team afloat. Jeter and Arod are just getting too old. Jays and Orioles have little to no chance

AL Central
1 TIgers
2. Royals
3. White Sox
4. Indians
5. Twins

Tigers are the lone strong team here, backed by Verlander and Cabrera. If they can support these guys with a better overall team they should make a good run this year. Royals have a lot of young talent and they did a good job of picking up some starting pitching help.White Sox will miss Mark Buehrle dearly, he and Konerko have provided stability for them the past decade or so. Indians were a fluke last year, expect 90 losses. Twins are a mess. Cuddyer may leave, taking away one of their only threats. Mauer cant seem to stay healthy

AL West
1, Angels
2. Rangers
3. Athletics
4. Mariners

Angels were already contending last season, and now they have added Pujols and Wilson. They likely have the best starting rotation in the AL. Rangers will contend as well, but they won’t be as good as people expect. Wilson is gone, leaving a rotation full of guys who an average team would want as a number 3 or 4 guy. No clear ace, Feliz is a question mark. Nathan is also an issue, I dont know why they didnt just sign Heath Bell instead. A’s and Mariners both have terrible offenses, dont expect much from them any time soon

NL East
1. Phillies
2. Marlins
3. Braves
4. Nationals
5. Mets

Phillies remain the class of the division, and the league, with their starting staff of Halladay, Lee, Hamels and Worley. Ryan Howard won’t be missed, especially if Cuddyer signs. Looks like they will retain Rollins as well. Marlins have done a lot to improve. Reyes provides a spark, but the success of this club really depends on how well Logan Morrison, Mike Stanton and the the other young players can do batting Reyes in. If they live up to their potnetial expect a Wild Card birth. Braves have done nothing to improve. Chipper is getting to old to be relied on as an offensive weapon. Sophmore slumo could hurt Kimbrel and Venters. There are rumors Jurrjens will get traded, which would hurt the team more. THey could finish 2nd, it just depends on the Marlins really. Nats have some good young pieces, but this isnt their year. Mets suck. There, I said it.

NL Central
1. Reds
2. Cardinals
3. Cubs
4. Brewers
5. Pirates
6. Astros

This division is the most intruiging one. The loss of Pujols and Fielder (and Braun for 50 games) opens the door for the other clubs to steal this division. Reds were quite good in 2010 and they fell off last year, as I predicted a year ago. Now they will step up and win this division, backed by Votto, Phillips and Bruce. Cards will not be the same without Albert, but realistically they should still be a .500 or better club, especially if they sign an outfielder (Beltran perhaps?). The Cubs, led by Epstein, very well could surprise us all. If they end up signing Fielder they could be a force to be reckoned with, Brewers will hurt bad, Fielder is gone and Braun is facing a 50 game suspension. Pirates and Astros will once again be nonfactors.

NL West
1. Giants
2. Dbacks
3. Rockies
4. Dodgers
5. Padres

Giants still have an amazing pitching staff, rivaled only by that of the Phillies. Cabrera and Pagan should help ignite a stagnant offense. Dbacks, adding Cahill, have solidified themselves as a very solid club. Rockies are always decent, and this year wont be any different. Not having Ubaldo will hirt them though, as they have no clear ace. Dodgers will be bad, as usual, which could cost Kemp another MVP. Padres have no offense and they dont have Bell or Adams this year. Smells like 100 losses to me.

NL Wild Card
Dbacks over Marlins

NLDS
Phillies over Dbacks
Giants over Reds

NLCS
Phillies over Giants

AL Wildcard
Red Sox over Yankees

ALDS
Red Sox over Angels
Tigers over Rays

ALCS
Tigers over Red Sox

World Series

Phillies over Tigers in 6 games.

	AL East
1. Red Sox
2. Rays
3. Yankees
4. Blue Jays
5. Orioles

Boston has the most talent, but they can’t fall apart this year. Tampa Bay always surprises, and have been good these past couple years. The Yanks are getting old and won’t be able to compete in this tough of a division. The Blue Jays have a new logo but are the same team on the inside. Baltimore is a non-factor.

AL Central
1 TIgers
2. Indians
3. Twins
4. Royals
5. White Sox

Tigers are by far the best team. For the rest it is a very close race at second, Indians success was a fluke. Twins will do good if they stay healthy, if not expect a disaster. Royals are a good young team and should be watched closely, as they may come out of no where with success. White Sox will be hurting without Buehrle, a key player.

AL West
1, Angels
2. Rangers
3. Athletics
4. Mariners

Angels will be at the top with the addition of Pujols and Wilson. Rangers will be solid second, but are hurting without Wilson. They will only have a mediocre rotation which will not be good enough to compete with LA. A’s and Mariners are both in a “rebuilding” stage.

NL East
1. Phillies
2. Marlins
3. Braves
4. Nationals
5. Mets

The top two, possibly three will be competing. Phillies are still the team to beat especially with their rotation, even though Howard is gone from the line-up. Marlins are like a whole new team, literally, new logo, new stadium, and new players. Reyes will help in the line up, Buehrle in the rotation, and Bell will shut the door. They have come along way from that pathetic team that sold fake tickets of memorable moments to attract fans. The Braves did not improve over the off-season and are getting old. Nats are good and young but they have too much competition. This just isn’t the Mets year.

NL Central
1. Reds
2. Pirates
3. Cardinals
4. Brewers
5. Cubs
6. Astros

This division is the most interesting and the one I know most about. If and only if the Reds stay healthy will they win the division. If they get injured again expect a repeat of last season. The Bucs are going to benefit from the hardships of other teams. They made a lot of minor moves this off-season by picking up many proven veterans. The Bucs have had trouble in the past with veterans coming in and not meeting expectations, and if this happens it could force the Pirates into their 20th straight losing season. One more key factor is the return of Lee. If he does return it could be a Cinderella story in Pittsburgh, but he has left all doors open, including retirement. The Cards lost Pujols, a player they built the organization around. They still have an outstanding rotation. St. Louis will need Berkman to repeat his performance last year in order to be competitive. Mostly though, the Cards fate will be determined by other teams. The Brew Crew is going to be hurting severely this season with Fielder almost certainly gone, and Braun suspended the first 50 games. They could rally back, as we have seen them do before. Most likely though, they will be in too deep a hole. The Cubs have a few good young players, but there are too many holes to fill and are going to struggle for at least another season. The Astros already have one foot out the door as they prepare to move to the AL West for the 2013 season.

NL West
1. Giants
2. Dbacks
3. Rockies
4. Dodgers
5. Padres

Giants have excellent pitching, only matched by the Phillies in the NL. The Dbacks, with Cahill should be a solid team. Rockies will be mediocre but the pitching staff has lost its identity without Ubaldo. The Dodgers will be bad, and the only reason they won’t be in last is because of how bad the Padres will be. The Padres no longer have Bell or Adams and could possibly be the worst team in the league.

	Great thinking.

The more I research KC, the more I really want to visit it. Anyway, so far I have Volker(neighborhood), Westport(neighborhood), Country Club Plaza, the Negro League museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art down as places I’d like to visit. Not to forget, wouldn’t mind quickly seeing Kaufmann Stadium(Royals) if they do tours of that stadium(and Arrowhead as well), and the Ward Parkway area looks extremely nice as well. I’d also like to hit at least one of the barbeque restaurants out, but haven’t decided if I’ll go to Arthur Bryant’s or another one(the competing BBQ restaurants seem to have better online reviews).

My major question is, which neighborhoods, parts of KC, museums, historical sights, etc. should I also consider seeing, that I haven’t considered doing and neglected to think about as well? Thanks to all who can help me out.

You’ve got a pretty good list already. KC just opened a new performing arts center. The New York Times gave it a pretty good review. A show or a tour might be interesting.

http://www.kauffmancenter.org/

Be sure to go to Oklahoma Joes for BBQ. Despite the name it is a KC only place.

Arthur Bryants is definitely good, and a lot of people like Oklahoma Joe’s (Anthony Bourdain certainly does), but I’m one of the few who rate it just above average, at least for this city.

I assume that you are interested in house/neighborhood site-seeing, in which case Volker and Ward Parkway are good choices, but otherwise no big attractions there.

You may also want to consider the National World War I Museum and Liberty Memorial in Penn Valley Park. Just south of there is the KC Federal Reserve and Money Museum, and just north is Union Station and Science City for the kids.

Also along side the Negro League Museum is the Jazz Museum, and you may want to allow time for it as well if you are by that way.

For more local restaurants that aren’t barbecue, you may want to hit Restaurant Row on 39th St, just on the Missouri side of State Line Rd. A ton of great little places that run the spectrum.

KC is also home to some great authentic Mexican food. Head towards the north end of Southwest Blvd (Important; NOT Southwest Trafficway!), and you will find several taquarias.

If you are interested in College Basketball, check out the College Basketball Experience at the Sprint Center downtown. You’ll also be near the Power and Light District, filled with bars and restaurants.

There are a lot of things to see and do here, more than you’ll fit into a trip. Some are interesting to just drive past to see for a minute (such as the McConahay Building, a small brick building still in disrepair but part of a long term restoration and so not open to the public by any means, but was home to Laugh-O-Gram studios, which was Walt Disney’s first animation studio, and where a few other big names in animation like Friz Freleng worked early in their careers as well). There’s a ton of these types of things around.

If you edit your question with some of your interests, I can maybe offer a few more suggestions (how else will I know whether or not the Toy and Miniature Museum might be up your alley?)

The Kemper museum of contemporary art is pretty close to the nelson. I think Smoke House has the best baked beans ever! I think Kaufman Stadium and Arrow Head both have tours. You might look at visiting the Power and Light district its pretty nice. Crown Center is a shopping area with a hotel attached to it and has a new aquarium opening in 2012. You might want to look at what events are taking place at our union station while your in town too. If your looking for family friendly housing Liberty has a great public school system one of the best in state. As well as Oak Park.

Angels vs Phillies – LAA in 7

Philly is going to win over 100 games, Toronto is going to win the AL wild card and San Francisco will make a run in the playoffs.

	Keep dreaming…

I will bet you 30 bucks this wont happen. i’ll contact you again at the end of the season

Your AL East “predictions” aren’t exactly predictions — more like wishful thinking.

	Really?

The Dodgers winning 88 games? Sure

The Blue Jays winning the AL East? Yeah right

It seems you can’t even do basic math. Half of your predictions are 164 games. Pretty sure they play 162

i think youre overestimating the angels

my money is on rays next year for al east theyre much more promising than jays
(unless they get fielder)

Good predictions, lol, i wonder how long it took, but idk about having the jays coming in first in the east….. mayb the wild card if even, no the jays arent going to make it to the playoffs- but they will start off well then die out. Also, the orioles will be better than you ahve, same with the red sox… are you kidding- red sox are going to be wild card

Division leaders:
Yankees
Angels
Tigers
Phillies
Cardinals
D-backs

Wild card
Red Sox
Marlins

World Series game:
Yankees- Marlins

YANKEES GNA BEAT THE RED SOX IN ALCS AGAIN AND THEY WILL WIN THE SERIES LETS GOOO

WTF ARE U HIGH? WHITE SOX WILL BEAT 2ND IN THE DIVISION AT LEAST

A’s will do better then the mariners

Blue jays are gonna be in 4th ..Yankees and sox will compete for the top along with rays being in there

dodgers 88 games? wow good luck with that

the only thing u predicted right was the NL central

Why can’t the Dodgers win 88 games they won 82 in 2011 it’s not a big difference.

	Your W/L don’t add up to 162 games…

hopefully cubs dont go like that blue jays wont win that many sorry there not better than the yankees redsox or rays

Hi guys, I have decided to let the forum know my true self because I’m tired of hiding and lying to people about who I really am.That’s why I get so angry sometimes and start arguments with people on here.

I am Craig the computer geek from California.I am a virgin who subscribes daily to Jerry Chua’s porn site and I love cross dressing and so WHAT! What if I do like cross dressing, we all have our secrets don’t we? You better not be laughing at me because I will get angry and upset.

I have produced this tremendous list of stats showing that Filipino’s don’t just depend on Pacquiao.

	yep i knew that!!!

Also you got Jhnplezzzzzz a.k.a Convict

http://www.tactileint.com/seasia/saigon/hochiminh.gif

hahahaahaaaaa!

Good list. Please stop acting like Manny Pacquiao is a God then! I didnt know Arianny is a Filipina, damn.

Excellent list, sir! There is no doubt that the Philipines create great athletes. That is why I am so confused as to why Pacquiao receives God like support from his fans. Pacquiao deserves allot of credit for his entertaining style of fighting and for continuously beating heavier guys. But undying loyalty and attacking others who does not also worship him confuses me. Especially since Donaire is all around better boxer than Pac.

why are you people so desperate for recognition and at the same time so arrogant?

	LMFAO.

That avatar is the real Killa From Manilla, hahahahaha.

YES! not only in basketball and contact/martial sports as boxing, karate, judo, taekwondo and MMA but in global sports as billiard pool, bowling, chess, dragon boat race, golf, speed shooting, And soon, also in football and rugby.

Dont forget Morris East. He won a boxing title at a very, very young age. There are a few where i had no idea, such as Cousins. I found out about Oden just a few weeks ago. See, it’s not all about Manny Pacquiao! No reason to live and die for him. My girlfriend is not a Manny fan and has been accused of “abandoning her race” by other Filipinos, which is absolute nonsense. She speaks 2 dialects of the language and loves and helps her people more than anyone knows. The behavior of some pacfans is downright ridiculous. My girlfriend was also upset because her grandfather fought in the war, and came over here and tried the right way to get his benefits, and died before they came through. To see Manny get some sort of honorary ranking in the military really ticked her off, and she also knows many Filipinos over here who are doing corrupt things, whether it’s real estate deals, fake cosmetology licenses, etc. (not that other races don’t do this)

Arianny Celeste is actually 3/4 Mexican, 1/4 Filipina, but since when are ring girls considered athletes anyway? lol

	ty for the list

	How about these:
Bowling Paeng Nepomuceno
Billiards Efren Reyes, Francisco Bustamante

Greg Oden – Probably a Filipino last name but he’s not one bit of Filipino

Erik Spoelstra – I would have left that one alone if I were you, Spoelstra sucks, only coach in the league without a gameplan.

Online betting players have been treated to a thrilling World Series so far, complete with pitching duels, historic offensive performances and sloppy bullpen work. Its going to come down to a seventh game, so MLB wagering fans should strap in for an exciting week of baseball as the season comes to a close in St. Louis with a Cardinals victory.

Game 5 – Monday, October 24th, 8:05 PM ET The Ballpark, Arlington, TX

Chris Carpenter (3-0, 3.52) didnt have his best stuff in Game 1s 3-2 win at home, but he managed to get by, giving up a pair of runs on five hits over six innings of work. C.J. Wilson (0-3, 7.17) had trouble with his command, walking six and striking out four, but he only allowed three runs on four hits. Its been an inconsistent postseason for the 30-year-old Wilson, and this is his first appearance at home since Game 1 of the ALCS against Detroit. You have to remember that this is only his second year as a starter and Wilson threw 223.1 innings in the regular season, along with 21.1 innings in the postseason, so fatigue is definitely a factor.

Carpenter is built for this and even when he doesnt have his best stuff, he does enough to keep the Cardinals in the game, and even though he has a 6.99 ERA in five starts at the Ballpark, he has a 2-2 record. You also should count on the St. Louis bats to wake up after a disappointing 4-0 loss in Game 4, and as a +113 MLB betting underdog on Monday night, they would be a smart bet.

Betting Edge: St. Louis Cardinals

Game 6 – Wednesday, October 26th, 8:05 PM ET Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO

Colby Lewis (1-1, 2.95) should be familiar with going out on the road as all three of his starts in the playoffs have been away from home, and he pitched 6.2 solid innings in Game 2s 2-1 win for the Rangers, allowing a run on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Jaime Garcia (0-2, 3.97) was on the other side, tossing a three-hitter over seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and a walk, but he was let down by Jason Motte, who blew the save in the 9th inning. That was his second straight no-decision, even though he has settled down since getting off to a rough start in the postseason.

Strangely, something similar will happen in this game as well as the Rangers try to stave off elimination with a big performance. Look for the Texas bats to come alive late in the game and in particular, one of their big bats, like Nelson Cruz or Josh Hamilton, who is battling what he thinks is a sports hernia. The Cardinals will probably be favored, but Texas is the MLB betting play on Wednesday night.

Betting Edge: Texas Rangers

Game 7 – Thursday, October 27th, 8:05 PM ET Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO (If necessary)

The Rangers Matt Harrison (1-1, 502) and the Cardinals Kyle Lohse (0-2, 7.82) have been penciled in as the starters for Game 7, and neither pitcher made it out of the fourth inning in a 16-7 win for St. Louis in Game 3, which was highlighted by Albert Pujols three-homer performance. Harrison gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits over 3.2 innings, while Lohse gave up three runs on five hits over three innings of work in a game for the offensive fans. Its doubtful that the two will have that type of game again in Game 7, especially in St. Louis where the games have been relatively low-scoring due to a few factors, but most likely the weather. It has been cold and damp in St. Louis, which makes the ball heavier. In Texas, the ball is much easier to hit and the Ballpark has always been known as a hitters park.

This is going to be up in the air and again, the bullpens will probably come into play as Harrison doesnt have much postseason experience and the Rangers are asking him to pitch a Game 7 in the World Series. Lohse, well, he isnt a very good pitcher and definitely pitched above his weight during the regular season. But at home, in a Game 7 setting and a managerial edge with St. Louis Tony LaRussa, St. Louis is the sports betting pick to make here.

Betting Edge: St. Louis Cardinals

In a season where not one but two teams completed a pair of the most improbable comebacks to earn their respective league Wild Card spots, another team filed for bankruptcy in the same year they reached the ALCS, and another team showcased the antics of one of its star outfielders and one of the breakthrough personalities of the year, there is one common MLB betting theme that has prevailed: Not everything happens the way that it is expected to happen. The same can be said about the respective championship series, as both continue to wind down on Monday.

St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers
Sunday, 4:05 PM ET

There could not have been a better ending to an NLDS than Nyjer Morgan pumping one in to the outfield for a walk off victory, and it will be interesting to see if the Brewers can provide their fans with another incredible finish. Milwaukee earned the chance to finish the series at Miller Park where they led the majors in home wins this season, and they got the pitching matchups that they wanted as well. Whether or not they can now turn those advantages into something tangible and end the Cardinals improbable run only time will tell, as players like Albert Pujols fight with everything they have in what could be their final game in a Cardinals uniform. Pujols is among a couple of potential free agents on the roster, and if he is going to go out then he might as well go out in style. The Brewers however have taken nothing for granted and have persevered every step of the way, and it wouldnt be a major surprise if St. Louis magical MLB betting run ends in Milwaukee.

MLB Betting Pick: Milwaukee Brewers

Detroit Tigers @ Texas Rangers
Sunday, 8:05 PM ET

It is no surprise that if it reaches game seven the Tigers will want to give the ball to Doug Fister, who pitched them to a memorable sports betting bonus win in game seven of the ALDS against the New York Yankees, and proved that he can handle the pressure. Texas will counter with Colby Lewis if it gets to that decisive game, although the Rangers would be happy to put it away in six if they can get the job done in the first of consecutive games at home. The Tigers have proven to be a worthy opponent so far, but Texas has been here before and have every intention of getting the job done. The way that players like Nelson Cruz have delivered in the clutch just makes you believe that this is a team of destiny, although Delmon Young and company may have something to say about that. The Rangers and Tigers both deserve their chance in the World Series but only one team can advance, and in this case experience and home field advantage will make the difference.

MLB Betting Pick: Texas Rangers

MLB Betting players who follow Milwaukee last saw the Brewers in the World Series in 1982, when they were in the American League and they lost to St. Louis. Now, the National League Central champions will look to send their Central rivals packing in the NLCS, and they should be able to put the Cardinals away in a close series.

What: MLB Betting
When: October 9th-17th (Check best sportsbook for start times)
Where: Games 1, 2, 6, 7 (Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI); Games 3-5 (Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO)
Pick: Milwaukee Brewers

Why Bet On St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have the most momentum of any team left in the postseason as they battled hard to put pressure on Atlanta, who collapsed down the stretch, then they managed to hold off Philadelphia, the World Series betting favorites, complete with a 1-0 win on the road in Game 5 in which Chris Carpenter outdueled Roy Halladay. St. Louis has a solid group of veteran players, led by Carpenter and Albert Pujols, who have been here before and relish the pressure of the playoffs. The hitting carried the team in the regular season as the Cardinals led the National League in runs scored and average, and there are few teams in the majors who can boast a mid-lineup order of Pujols, Lance Berkman and Matt Holliday. That isnt to say that their pitching is awful, as Carpenter, Jaime Garcia (despite a rocky Game 1), Edwin Jackson and Kyle Lohse can get the job done, especially the first two. Octavio Dotel, Arthur Rhodes and Marc Rzepczynski have bolstered the bullpen in middle relief, and they were very good down the stretch. The Cardinals have put Jason Motte in the closers role for now, but they can always fall back on Fernando Salas as well.

You have to wonder how much the Cardinals have left in the tank after their massive run to the playoffs, especially a veteran team that has battled some injuries this season. Two months ago, most MLB betting players put the Cardinals out to pasture and they expended a lot of energy just to get here. It actually may be beneficial to play the Brewers, a heated division rival with whom the Cardinals have been physical with, so it should be easy for them to get up for Milwaukee. Also, the bullpen is a worry as it was well below average for most of the season.

Why Bet On Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have homefield advantage, and this is huge for Milwaukee, who won an MLB-high 57 games at home in Miller Park during the regular season, then won all three of their home meetings with Arizona in the NLDS, and then Game 1 against the Cardinals. We know that homefield advantage plays a big role in most sports, but this Milwaukee team is like two different squads when theyre home and away. While the Cardinals have their power trio in the middle of their lineup, the Brewers may have the best one-two punch in the game in Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun, and there is potential power throughout the lineup with Corey Hart and Rickie Weeks, who is finally healthy, and dont count out Yuniesky Betancourt. The Brewers can swing the bat with anyone in the majors, and that means theyre never out of a game. But they got to this point by improving their starting rotation with Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, picking them up to go with Yovani Gallardo, who is one of the most underrated hurlers in the major leagues. Milwaukee also has a deadly late-inning duo in Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford, and their middle relief is effective as well. The Brewers feel like theyre a team of destiny, and one that may be broken up due to financial issues after this year, so theyre playing with urgency.

But that can backfire on the Brewers, who cant let their emotions get the best of them, especially against their division rivals. The Brewers have the edge in talent over the Cardinals, but its all about keeping their heads and not trying to do too much, especially away from home. Milwaukees trouble on the road is a head-scratcher, which puts a lot of pressure on them to maintain their perfection at home. If they dropped a game in Miller Park, can they get it back in St. Louis?

How It Will Play Out

Milwaukee should be the MLB betting favorites, and Game 1 was the 19th time that these two have met in 2011, so there arent many secrets left between them. Its been almost even as the Brewers are 10-9 against the Cardinals this year, with 10 games coming in under the posted total (along with a couple of pushes).

This has seven games written all over it, and the Brewers need to be able to take at least one game in St. Louis, where theyve lost six of their last 10. They should be able to snatch a game on the road and send their bitter rivals packing after a wild series. The Cardinals will make it interesting with their experience, but the Brewers have too many weapons and will break through to reach the World Series. Take Milwaukee with your online betting baseball picks.

Cardinals Brewers Betting Pick: Milwaukee Brewers

With the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox not competing in this years ALCS and that leaves the chances wide open for the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers. The Rangers are the 2010 defending AL Champions and would love a shot at a second World Series appearance in a row. The Tigers were AL Champions in 2006 when they went to the World Series and lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rangers want the chance to prove that last year was not a fluke (if it hasnt been proven already) and the Tigers would love a rematch of the 2006 World Series, provided the Cardinals beat the Phillies in game five of the NLDS.

Why Bet on Detroit

The Tigers are favored to win game one of this series, and Detroit also stands as the favorite to become AL Champions. The betting sites consider that a neat trick when you remember that the Tigers were chasing the Cleveland Indians for half the season for the AL Central title. Detroit wasnt even a playoff favorite at the All-Star break. But there are plenty of good reasons to bet on the Detroit Tigers to win the AL pennant.

The Detroit Tigers come into the playoffs with the hottest pitching staff in baseball. It is more than just Cy Young candidate Justin Verlander (although he is a huge part of the reason why Detroit beat the Yankees). But there are other starters such as Doug Fister and Max Scherzer that also helped put the beat down on the Yankees. Detroits offense did not really help as it only scored 17 runs in the five games of the ALDS. But the pitching in Detroit should help carry the Tigers far.

Why Bet on Texas

The Rangers did not make it easy on themselves by getting blown out in the first game of its ALDS series against the Tampa Bay Rays 9-0. But the online wagering crowd in Texas relaxed when the Rangers starting pitching finally clicked in for the playoffs. The Rangers do not have the convenience of calling on a Cliff Lee to win games in the post-season. But the young Ranger pitching staff that enters the playoffs have shown that it is more than capable of winning big games.

How it Will Play Out

The Rangers young pitching staff has shown that it can respond to big games and make a difference in a series. After the game one blowout against the Rays, the Rangers staff settled in and allowed only 12 runs in the next three games before clinching the series. But questions still remain about the ability of the Rangers staff to be World Series-caliber.

The Tigers are really rolling both on the mound and on offense. Detroit came into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams down the stretch, and maintained its momentum into the playoffs. It will be a tall task to ask a young Rangers team to stop Detroit.

Pick: Detroit Tigers
